Park: Oak Mountain State Park
At almost 10,000 acres and 50 miles of hiking trails, Oak Mountain State Park is Alabama’s largest state park. With this much land, what better place to view the changing of the leaves this Autumn.

Park: Ruffner Mountain
Ruffner Mountain is a privately held, 1,040 acre urban nature preserve in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama. With more than 14 miles of trails, there’s plenty of land to walk about and view all of the fall foliage. If you’re looking for a vast view of Birmingham and the changing leaves, we recommend hiking up the short trail of Ruffner Mountain.

Drive: Mountain Brook via Cherokee Road
If you’re along for the ride, we recommend starting in Mountain Brook and head down Cherokee Road. This upscale residential area is situated in the hills with tall trees bursting with color. To make the most of your drive, we recommend stopping by Birmingham Botanical Gardens to view their fall flowers or cruise alongside Mountain Brook’s golf course.

Drive: Bluff Park via Shades Crest Road
Heading south from Birmingham, you’ll be met with the quiet neighborhood of Bluff Park in Hoover. Overlooking Shades Valley from atop Shades Mountain, this popular suburb has some of the most exquisite views during the fall. As you drive about, stop by Moss Rock Preserve to get some hiking in and view the beautiful leaves changing color.
